CE Marking

What is a CE Mark?

The CE Mark is an indication that a product is consistent with the performance stated by the manufacturer. It is a unified way of presenting certain technical properties relating to safety and durability in a consistent format to show that it can be sold in all EU member states.

From the 1stof July 2013, under the new Construction Products Regulation 2011 (CPR), manufacturers of construction products must apply CE Marking to any product that is covered by a harmonised European Standard (hEN). Compliance is achieved by the following elements;

  • Initial Type Testing

Product is tested according to the standards outlined within the relevant hEN, in order to establish the Declared Performance

  • Factory Production Control

Quality Assurance procedures ensure product is compliant with declared performance

Any product bearing the CE Mark will be linked to a Declaration of Performance (DoP).

For Geocel products, you can find these documents on this website under the relevant product page.

Which products require the CE Mark?

Any product that is covered by a harmonised European Standard (hEN). If the intended use of the product is not covered by the scope of an hEN, then it does not require a CE Mark.

Please be assured that if a product falls within the scope of an hEN, it will be CE Marked. You may noticed some products (such as Structural Glazing Sealants) that bear a CE Mark yet are not covered by a Harmonised Standard; these products are CE Marked according to a European Technical Assessment Guideline (ETAG) as a voluntary method of declaring product performance.
